Start with what the block allows
Every service below is priced by access before it is priced by size. In the Eastern Suburbs that means the first question is never "how tall is it" — it is whether a machine can reach the tree, whether the debris comes out through a side gate or through a house, and whether the crew is working over a neighbour's glass roof.
The six jobs
Tree removal covers everything from a dead cocos palm in a courtyard to a mature fig that has outgrown a boundary. On most sites here that means dismantling the tree in sections and lowering the pieces on rope, because there is nowhere to drop anything.
Tree lopping and pruning is the larger share of the work. Crown reduction, deadwooding, clearance from roofs, gutters and service lines, and formative pruning on younger plantings.
Stump grinding finishes a removal. Sandstone sits close to the surface across much of Randwick, Coogee and Vaucluse, so grinding depth is limited by rock as often as by the machine.
Palm tree removal is its own job. Palms are not trees structurally, they cannot be climbed with spikes without killing them, and cocos palms are a declared weed problem across Sydney.
Emergency and storm work runs 24/7 for limbs on roofs, split trunks and blocked driveways after a southerly or an east coast low.
Arborist reports are the written assessments that Waverley, Randwick and Woollahra ask for before they will consider an application on a significant tree.
What we do not take on
We do not top healthy trees, we do not spike palms we are only cleaning, and we do not cut anything out of a live power line — that is Ausgrid's work, not a tree crew's. We also do not quote a protected tree as though consent is a formality. Where the honest answer is that the council will refuse, or that the tree should be retained and reduced rather than removed, that is what you will be told at the inspection.
What sits behind all of it
Almost every job in this area touches a council rule. The three tree preservation orders covering the Eastern Suburbs are strict, and the heritage conservation areas in Paddington and Woollahra add another approval layer on top. Before booking anything, read the permit guide — it is usually the difference between a job that starts in a fortnight and one that stalls for a season.

Frequently asked questions
Can one crew do the removal and the stump on the same day?
Usually yes, and it is cheaper that way because you pay one mobilisation instead of two. The exception is a stump that needs a larger grinder than the access allows, or a removal that finishes late on a street with parking restrictions. If the stump has to come back as a second visit the quote will say so before you accept it.
What is the difference between lopping and pruning?
In trade use, pruning means removing specific branches at the right point so the tree seals the wound and keeps growing properly. Lopping usually means cutting back to arbitrary points to reduce size. Good reduction work is possible, but indiscriminate topping is not, and a tree topped once needs checking every few years afterwards.
Do you work on strata and commercial properties?
Yes. Strata blocks across Bondi Junction, Randwick and Maroubra are a regular part of the work, and those jobs usually need a written scope for the committee, proof of insurance for the building manager and a traffic or pedestrian plan if the work touches a footpath. Allow extra lead time for approvals.
